  • To avoid serious drug interactions be sure you physician and pharmacist have a list of all medications, prescription and over the counter that you are taking.
  • Do not take any over the counter medications without first talking with your healthcare provider.
  • Getting all your medications from the same pharmacy allows computer programs to track all your medications and highlight for the pharmacist any drug interactions or dosage concerns.
  • Medications such as paroxetine, erythromycin, prednisone or grapefruit juice may increase blood levels and therefore side effects of Alzheimer's medications and antipsychotics
  • Effectiveness of Alzheimer's medications and antipsychotics may be decreased by carbamazepine, phenytoin, or rifampin
